Abstract
For vast regions of magnetosphere are mapped in a relatively narrow latitudinal bend in the polar regions, high-latitude monitoring of solar wind energy transfer and its dissipation in
ionosphere gives unique opportunity to study geomagnetic disturbances in their complexity. In the seminar I give brief review on the basics of magnetic and radar observation techniques and some of their usual applications in exploring disturbances driven by the changing solar wind and IMF. Furthermore, I introduce a recently implemented joint measurement project of
the Space Physics Group/University of Oulu and School of Space Research/Kyung Hee University. This project has been designed to simultaneous monitoring of high-latitude
activity with the North European incoherent scatter radar array (EISCAT) supported by ground-based magnetometer and all-sky camera data, and the ENA observations from CINEMA satellite system.
