Abstract
In this talk,  I review the recent research progress of space weather research lab of NJIT.  It includes the study of black light flares,   Moreton waves,   the circular ribbon flares, evolution of magnetic fields associated with flares,  the relationship between sunspot rotation and flares. The data used for our studies are from NASA missions,  digitized archive data
from Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) and recent high resolution data from 1.6m New Solar Telescope at BBSO. The results disclose the relationship and differences between two important kinds of solar eruptions:  the sigmoid eruption and fan-spine type of reconnection.
