Title : Probing the Habitability and Environment of Earth-Like Planets around Cool Stars with Multi wavelength Spectroscopy
Abstract :
The MUSCLES (Measurements of the Ultraviolet Spectral Characteristics of Low-Mass Exoplanetary Systems) Survey is a Hubble Space Telescope Treasury program. It obtained X-ray, UV, and optical spectroscopy of eleven K and M type stars hosting exoplanets. The high energy spectrum of cool stars differs from solar irradiance in several key respects, with important implications for the heating and photochemistry of exoplanet atmospheres and habitability. In this talk, I will present the key results from the MUSCLES Treasury Survey and look ahead to future observations.
